INTRODUCTION
This study takes a closer look at Jesus as the LORD of lords. May the LORD bless us as we study in Jesus’ name (Amen).

CENTRAL BIBLE PASSAGE: REVELATION 19:1-21

A. WHO IS THE LORD OF LORDS?
A Lord means a man of rank or high position, a ruler by hereditary right, to whom service and obedience are due or somebody who has achieved domination or who exercises leadership or great power in some area.
The Hebrew word for Lord is ‘adon’ which means a human’s rule over another people. In the OT, ‘Adon’ usually describes the essence of Yahweh (GOD); His power over His people over the entire earth and other gods. (Ex. 34:23; Is. 1: 24; Jos. 3:13; Mic. 4:13; Ps. 135:5, Deut. 10:17)
The Greek word, in the NT is “Kurios”, which means both one who exercises rule over personal as well as the owners of goods. Acts 25:26; 21:29-30.
Since ‘Adon’ has power over all the earth and all other gods , it could stand parallel to the personal name of GOD, Yahweh. (Ex. 15:17) Yahweh is Lord (Adon) is Yahweh Additional terms such as Sabbath (that is, Supreme Head and Commander of all the heavenly forces) underscores the absolute Lordship of Yahweh (Is. 3:1)
Before His resurrection, Jesus was addressed with the Jewish title of honour, Rabbi (Teacher ~ Mk. 9:5; 11:21). The resurrection changed the respectful student/teacher relationship of the disciples with Jesus into believers’ servant/ lord relationship (Phil. 2:6-11; Ps. 110:1; Mk. 12:35-37). Not only is the Lord, He is confirmed as King of kings and Lord of lords. (Rev. 19:16; 1:5-8)

B. AN IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTIC OF JESUS THE LORD OF LORDS
One major important characteristic of the LORD of lords is the fact that, He causes things to happen; He is infact the LORD in action.
i. He brought a great living army out of dry bones. Ez. 37:1-10
ii. He caused the red sea to part. Ex 14:13-22. Not only that, he brought the Rea Sea back to this former state. Ex. 14:27-28, 31
iii. He brought water out of the hard rock and turn bitter water into a sweet on. Ex. 17:1-6; 15:23-24
iv. The implication of the foregoing is that unless the Lord of lords make things happens, no one can make it happen. Ps. 127:1; 1 King 18:21-24, 26, 36-48; Rev. 3:7; Ps. 224:7-10; Rev. 21:31; Ps. 60:11; Ps. 80:1, 3, 14-15; Jn. 15:5
One else can and except He promotes, no one else can. Ps. 75:6-7. Once He decides to act, no one can hinder Him. Is. 43:13; Gen. 18:9-14; 2 Kings 4:8-17; Jn. 38-44; Rev. 3:7-8

C. WHY IS JESUS, THE LORD OF LORDS SO POWERFUL?
The Lord of lords is so powerful because He has been conferred with the name above all names and one that must be obeyed. Beings and personalities in heaven and earth must obey Him. Your enemy must obey Him. Your body, soul and spirit must obey Him. Phil. 2:9-11; Lk. 8:24-25, 27-36
The question pertinent to you is ‘Have you indeed make Him your Lord?
Lk. 6:46-49; Rom. 10:8-13; Ex. 15:26; Is. 1:18-19; Ps. 27:1-6
